The Holy Week begins today. During the Holy Week we celebrate the mysteries of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, the central events of our salvation. Let us attend these celebrations with special devotion:

  • The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 26.3 at 6 pm in St. Henry’s cathedral. There will be no evening Mass on Tuesday in our church.
  • On the Holy Thursday we commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord and the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass begins at 6 pm. After the Mass, there will be an all-night adoration. There is a list on the information board, please put your name to indicate the time of your prayer especially during the night.
  • Good Friday – the celebration of Jesus’ passion and death. The Way of the Cross in Finnish begins at 2 pm; the liturgy at 3 pm. Confession starts at 2 pm. Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 until 60 are obliged to fast. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and two small meals. A prayer in Malayalam begins at 10.30 am. Prayer in Arabic at 6 pm
  • on the Holy Saturday traditional blessing of the Easter food at 11 am., solemn Easter Vigil at 9.30 , blessing of the food after the Vigil
  • on the Easter Sunday bishop Raimo’s solemn Mass in Finnish at 10 am, Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30, Mass in Arabic at 1 pm, Mass in Vietnamese at 2.30 pm, Mass in Polish at 4 pm and Mass in English at 6 pm.

We encourage all parishioners to attend the sacrament of reconciliation before Easter. There is an opportunity for confession on Monday and Wednesday at 4.45 pm, on Thursday after the evening Mass.

There will be a Catechism class for adults on Wednesday at 6.45 pm in the parish hall.

We invite all couples planning to get married to a marriage course. The marriage course is a very important part of the preparation before marriage. The marriage course starts on Tuesday 2.4.2024 at 18.45 in the parish hall and consists of six meetings. The course will be held in Finnish and English. More information on the notice board.

It is important during the time of Advent that everyone dedicates more time to prayer, penance and reading of the Bible. We encourage all parishioners to attend the sacrament of confession before Christmas.

During the Advent we support those in need. Caritas Finland’s Advent Collection supports small farmers in Sri Lanka. We can donate via Caritas web page caritas.fi, directly to Caritas bank account, via Mobile pay or to the donation box in the church.

The feast of the dedication of our church and the Finnish Independence Day will be celebrated on Wednesday 6.12. The Holy Mass will begin at 10 am. The Cantores Minores Alumni choir will sing during the Mass. There will be no evening Mass on Wednesday.

The solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated on Friday 8.12. There will be Mass in Finnish at 7.30 am and 6 pm.

There will be a meeting of a charismatic prayer group on Friday 8.12 after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be the Vesper prayer in Latin on Saturday 9.12 at 3 pm, afterwards the Rosary and the Tridentine Mass at 4 pm.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday, 10.12 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am. We invite all children to a rehearsal of the Christmas play on Sunday 10.12 after the Mass for children about 12.30 in the church.

Elders and homebound persons can ask a priest to visit them at home and to bring the Holy Communion. Contact our parish office.

Those who will visit a graveyard and pray for the faithful departed from the 1st until the 8th of November can receive a plenary indulgence for the departed under the general conditions. In order to obtain it, the faithful must, in addition to being in the state of grace: have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin; have sacramentally confessed their sins; receive the Holy Eucharist; pray for the intentions of the Pope.

On Monday, the Legion of Mary meets as usual after evening mass in the parish hall.

Lectio Divina in English will take place on Thursday 9.11 after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will the First Communion classes in Finnish on Saturday 11.11 at 10 am and the Confirmation classes at 3.30 pm in the parish hall.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 12.11 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

We thank parishioners who regularly support our parish with the membership fee.

October is a month dedicated to the Rosary prayer. We pray together the Rosary before the English Mass at 5.30 pm. We encourage to pray the Rosary at home especially with your families.

The Legion of Mary gathers on Mondays after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with prayers in English for priests and for the bishop-elect fr. Raimo Goyarrola. The adoration will take place on Saturday 28th of October at 3.30 pm. More details on the bulletin board.

In November we pray especially for all the faithful departed. Parishioners can write and send us names of their departed relatives and friends by email: maria(ät)katolinen.fi and we will read these names and pray for them in November during adorations.

October is a month dedicated to the Rosary prayer. We pray together the Rosary before the English Mass at 5.30 pm. We encourage to pray the Rosary in our church after the evening Holy Mass on weekdays and to pray the Rosary at home especially with your families.

There will be an organ music concert on Thursday 19.10 at 7 pm. Music of Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn and Gustafsson will be presented.

There will be First Communion and Confirmation classes on Saturday 21.10 at 10 am in the parish hall.

Mass in Hyvinkää, in the Old church (Vanha kirkko) will be celebrated on Saturday 21.10 at 4 pm.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 21.10 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

There will be a meeting for young people on Saturday 21.10 at 6 pm in the parish hall.
