Restrictions on gathering throughout the Uusimaa have been relaxed since last Saturday (4.9). Our church is now accessible to 150 people. The use of a face mask and hand sanitizer is still mandatory. We recommend registration for practical reasons.

There will be morning Mass in English on Tuesday and Thursday at 8 am.

The feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated on Wednesday 8.9. The Mass in Finnish will be held at 8 am and 6 pm.

There will be an event called “Walk for life” on the Saturday (11.9) at 1pm. The gathering point is at the Senate Square in Helsinki and the walk will end at the Finnish Parliament. The purpose of the walk is to defend the life of unborn children.

There will be a procession in honour of the Nativity of Our Lady and celebration of the Legion of Mary’s centenary on the next Saturday (11.9) beginning at 4.45 pm in our church.

If all places are booked, a parishioner can ask a priest to receive the Communion outside the Mass. The use of a face mask and hand sanitizer is mandatory. It is obligatory to maintain the social distancing also during the Communion.

The Holy Week begins today. During the Holy Week we celebrate the mysteries of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, the central events of our salvation. Let us attend these celebrations with special devotion:

On the Holy Thursday the solemn Eucharist to commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord, the sacrament of Eucharist and priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass at 6 pm. There will be a adoration after the Mass till 10 pm.

Good Friday – the celebration of Jesus’ passion and death at 3 pm. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 until 60 are obliged to fast. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and two small meals.

on the Holy Saturday traditional blessing of the Easter food at 11 am, 11.30, 12.00 and 12.30. A registration is obligatory for all blessings of food. The solemn Easter Vigil at 9.30 pm.

on the Easter Sunday the bishop’s solemn Mass in Finnish at 10 am, Mass in Finnish with readings in Swedish at 11.30, Mass in English at 1 pm, Mass in Polish at 4 pm and Mass in English at 6 pm.

The Lenten Collection of Caritas Finland supports young leaders to defend environment and human rights in Myanmar. You can donate via Caritas Finland website, directly to Caritas bank account or to the donation box in the church.

We will celebrate the Annunciation of the Lord solemnity on the next Thursday, 25.3.

On the next Sunday is the Passion Sunday – the Palm Sunday. It is a commemoration of Jesus’ arrival to Jerusalem and the events of His Passion. You can bring your own palm branches on Sunday. There will be no procession before the 10 am. Mass due to the Corona situation. There will be the blessing of palms at the beginning of the Mass in the church.

We invite children from 5 to 8 years old to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on the next Sunday, 28.3 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

We will celebrate the Presentation of the Lord feast on the next Tuesday, 2nd of February. It is also a day of consecrated life. There will be Mass in Finnish at 6 pm. Please bring a candle on that feast as there will be a blessing of candles at the beginning of the Mass.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the next Friday 5.2 in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till midnight.

The World Day of the Sick will be celebrated on Thursday, 11th of February. Our sick parishioners can inform us that they are willing to receive the anointment of the sick during the Mass at 6 pm on Thursday or at home. The anointment of the sick is a healing sacrament in which God bestows on us all what we need physically and spiritually to overcome illness and suffering. The anointment of the sick is recommended before surgery, for those suffering from chronic illnesses, for elderly. Don’t hesitate to ask for this sacrament.

We encourage parishioners to inform the parish office about possible changes of your address in order to update our register.

The last classes for the First Communion course in Finnish will take place on the next Saturday at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be Mass at 9.30 am and a meeting for the parents at 10 am in the church.

We ask the parents of children of school age to inform the parish whether or not your child receives Catholic education at school and give the name of the religion teacher and the name of the school. Please send this information to the parish office till the end of August.
