The memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick will be celebrated on Tuesday, 11^th of February. Sick parishioners can receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at the 6 pm Mass. If you wish to receive the Anointing of the Sick, you should inform the parish office in advance. It is also possible to receive the sacrament at home. Anointing of the Sick is for those who, for example, are undergoing a difficult operation, suffering from a chronic illness or weakness due to old age.

The First Communion and Confirmation classes in English will take place on Saturday 15.2. at 10.30 in the parish hall.

A new Catholic school will open in Helsinki in August 2025, combining the strengths of the Finnish education system, the richness of multiculturalism and Catholic values. The school will start with a common class for grades 1-3. Enrolment is open! Parents are encouraged to enrol their children in the school by 28 February 2025. A course for English speakers who wish to improve their Finnish for masses and prayers will continue on Tuesday 4.2. at 6.45 pm in the parish hall.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus lay group has a monthly meeting on Thursday, 6.2. after the evening mass, in the parish hall. Everyone interested are welcome!

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday 7.2. in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till 10 pm.

The First Communion and Confirmation classes in Finnish will take place on Saturday 8.2.

We invite children from 5 to 8 years old to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 9.2. at 10 am in the parish hall.

The Legion of Mary group gathers on Mondays in the parish hall after the evening Mass.

There will be additional Masses in Vietnamese on Wednesday 29.1., Thursday 30.1. and Friday 31.1. at 7 pm and on Saturday at 1 pm.

There will be a Mass in Hyvinkää on the 1^st of February at 4 pm in the Old church (Vanha kirkko).

We will celebrate the Presentation of the Lord feast on Sunday, 2nd of February. Please bring a candle with you as there will be a blessing of the candles at the beginning of the Mass. It is also a day of consecrated life when we pray for those who profess the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience with the approval of the Church.

For this Jubilee Year of 2025, Bishop Raimo Goyarrola has decided that all eight parish churches of the Diocese of Helsinki shall be destinations for the pilgrimage of hope and places where the plenary indulgence can be obtained. The Jubilee indulgence can be gained by confessing one’s sins, receiving Holy Communion in the church, and praying for the intentions of the Holy Father. It is also recommended to recite the Our Father and the Hail Mary. To obtain the indulgence, it is necessary for the faithful to be in a state of grace and detached from all sin.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation cleanses us of the guilt of our sins, but an indulgence removes the traces of sin in the human soul. Thus, an indulgence “helps us understand God’s boundless mercy,” as the Holy Father writes. “Not by chance, for the ancients, the terms “mercy” (misericordia) and “indulgence” (indulgentia) were interchangeable, as expressions of the fullness of God’s forgiveness, which knows no bounds.” (Spes non confundit, 23). The faithful may obtain one indulgence per day under the above conditions. The indulgence can be applied either to oneself or for the benefit of a deceased person.

A week of prayers for the unity of Christians begins on Saturday 18^th of January. More information on the website www.ekumenia.fi. Let us remember to pray for the unity of Christians. The Finnish Ecumenical Council needs our financial support; we can put our donations into a box at the back of the church on your right during the week of prayers.

Stickers and prayers for the yearly home blessing are available in the porch. At the beginning pray together the Our Father and Hail Mary prayer, one reads the prayer of blessing and fixes the sticker. Donation for a sticker is 2 Euros to support the missionary work of the church.
