A new evangelizing social media project is starting in our parish!

The purpose is to use the parish’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) to share the gospel, strengthen the parish community, and showcase the activities of various groups operating in our parish and diocese.

Kick-off Meeting

When: Next Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM

Where: Parish Hall

At the event, the project’s vision will be presented, content will be brainstormed together, and we’ll consider how everyone can participate – with a small or large contribution. You don’t need to be a social media professional; the most important thing is enthusiasm and a desire to serve.

The introductory course on the Catholic faith starts again!

The introductory course is designed both for those who want to learn more about Catholicism and for those interested in joining the Catholic Church. The course will be held every other Moday at the parish hall of St. Henry’s Cathedral.

A warm welcome to all!

1. On Tuesday, August 12, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Fr. Léon Dehon SCJ, founder of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Since the priests of our parish belong to this congregation, a solemn Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., presided over by Bishop Raimo. After the Mass, there will be coffee and short presentations in the parish hall about Fr. Léon Dehon, his congregation, and the activities of the Lay Dehonians.
2. On Friday, August 15, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Masses in Finnish will be celebrated in our church at 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
3. On Friday, after the evening Mass, there will also be a charismatic prayer meeting in the parish hall at 7:00 p.m. This time, you are also welcome to join if you are interested in taking part in various ways in the Life in the Spirit Seminar, which will begin on Friday, September 12.
4. The diocesan feast will take place this year in Lohja on Saturday 16.8.2025 at 11 am. The program after the mass in St. Lawrence Church will continue in Vivamo (Vivamontie 2, 08200 Lohja). During the Mass, Bishop Raimo will ordain as priest the diocesan candidate, Deacon Chien Nguyen, who is originally from Vietnam. Our parish will arrange a bus trip: the bus departs at 9:30 from in front of the church and the journey back from Vivamo : €30. Children 4–16 years: €15/person, under 4 years free. Lunch at Vivamo costs €5/person. You can pay via MobilePay (47373) or by bank transfer to the parish account: FI65 1023 3000 2047 89. Please use the message “hiippakuntajuhla”. 5. A reminder to register your children for First Communion preparation (3rd graders) or for the Confirmation course (8th graders and older). 6. An Open Doors Day will be held in connection with the Meilahti Day on Saturday, September 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program includes “Flavors of the World” coffee service, the “Miracles of Faith” exhibition, a Catholic Q&A quarter-hour on saints, a children’s corner, sale of Caritas products, and in the evening the Laudate Dominum concert at 7:15 p.m. Volunteers are needed for baking, making coffee, cleaning, and organizing. 7. During the renovation of the church facade, please pay attention to safety in the vicinity of the construction site. The renovation will cost €210,000, which is a major financial undertaking for the parish.
