DRAWING AND LOGO DESIGN COMPETION

The drawing and logo design competion in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the parish has ended and the winners have been selected.
The prizes will be given out in the Anniversary Party on Sunday, 8.12. at the English School. All participants will be awarded.

Category 1: Children under 12 years
Theme: Me, my family and the St. Mary’s Church

Category 2: Youth of age 13-19
Theme: Logo for the St. Mary’s Anniversary

Category 3: Adults
Theme: Logo for the St. Mary’s Anniversary

The Parish Council has chosen the winners of the drawing and logo competition. The children’s competition was won by 9-year-old Camille Gallego, the youth logo competition by Hajnal Vermes and the adult logo competition by Henriett Vermes. The winners’ work can be seen on the notice board. 22 people in total took part in the competition. We thank all participants. All participants will be awarded at a parish feast at the English School on the 8^th of December.

Throughout November we will pray for the dead. Parishioners can send us the names of deceased relatives and friends by email: maria@katolinen.fi. The names of the deceased will be read and prayed for during the Adoration in November.

A Bible sharing group will gather on Thursday 14.11. after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be a half-day charismatic Bible conference “Encounter with Jesus” on Saturday from 1 till 5 pm. Details on the information board.

There will be a meeting for young people on Saturday 16.11 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

We can help the homeless and poor by donating hygiene products to a charity foundation called Sininauhasäätiö. There is a list of products on the information board.

We sincerely thank the parishioners who support our church with regular membership fee. It is possible to support our parish through the MobilePay app with the number 47373.

It is important that every Catholic living permanently in Finland registers with a local parish.

Those who will visit a graveyard and pray for the faithful departed from the 1st until the 8th of November can receive a plenary indulgence for the departed under the general conditions.

In order to obtain it, the faithful must, in addition to being in the state of grace:

• have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin
• have sacramentally confessed their sins
• receive the Holy Eucharist
• pray for the intentions of the Pope

There will be no confession and adoration on Monday 4.11.

The lay group of Sacred Heart of Jesus will gather on Thursday 7.11. after the evening Mass in the parish hall.
(Mainly in Finnish due to having mainly Finnish speakers in the group at the moment, but anyone interested is welcome!)

The charismatic prayer group gathers on Fridays after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

The First Communion classes will be held in Finnish on Saturday 11.11. at 10 am and the Confirmation classes at 3.30 pm in the parish hall.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 10.11. at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

The Legion of Mary meets on Mondays after evening Mass in the parish hall. Meetings are in English and open to newcomers.

There will be a catechism class for adults on Thursday 24.10 after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

The First Communion and Confirmation classes will take place on Saturday 26.10 at 10.30 in the parish hall.

There will be Mass in Hungarian on Saturday 26.10 at 4 pm.

There will be a concert of Polish funeral songs on Sunday 27.10 at 3 pm.

To celebrate the anniversary of our parish, a drawing and logo design competition is organised. There are three categories:

1. for children under 12 years old, a drawing competition on the theme of “Me, my family and St. Mary’s church”
2. for young people aged 13-19 years old, a design competition on the logo of St. Mary’s parish anniversary
3. for adults, a design competition on the logo of St. Mary’s parish anniversary.

Finished works can be submitted either in person at the office or by e-mail to maria@katolinen.fi, by 31.10.2024.

Our parish choirs are rehearsing as follows:
Cappella Sanctae Marie: on Mondays at 16.30-18.00 in the parish hall,
Chorus Sanctae Mariae: on Mondays at 18.45-19.45 in the church and
the children’s choir CAM: on Thursdays at 18-18.45 in the parish hall.
