1. This Wednesday we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. On Mount Tabor, Jesus revealed his divine glory to his closest disciples. Evening Mass in Finnish at 6 p.m.
2. On Tuesday, the Catechism Class for Adults meets after the evening Mass at 6:45 p.m. The group discusses the faith based on the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
3. On Thursday, both the Lay Dehonians and the praesidium of the Legion of Mary will meet in the parish halls after the evening Mass.
4. On Sunday, August 10, Sunday School for children aged 5–8 will take place again in the parish hall during the main Mass at 10 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., the Mass for Children will be celebrated.
5. On Wednesday, August 12, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Fr. Léon Dehon SCJ, founder of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Since the priests of our parish belong to this congregation, a solemn Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., presided over by Bishop Raimo. After the Mass, there will be coffee and short presentations in the parish hall about Fr. Léon Dehon, his congregation, and the activities of the Lay Dehonians.
6. The diocesan feast will take place this year in Lohja on Saturday 16.8.2025 at 11 am. The program after the mass in St. Lawrence Church will continue in Vivamo (Vivamontie 2, 08200 Lohja). During the Mass, Bishop Raimo will ordain as priest the diocesan candidate, Deacon Chien Nguyen, who is originally from Vietnam. Our parish will arrange a bus trip: the bus departs at 9:30 from in front of the church and the journey back from Vivamo at 16:15 (updated 5.8.)! The cost is €30. Children 4–16 years: €15/person, under 4 years free. Lunch at Vivamo costs €5/person. You can pay via MobilePay (47373) or by bank transfer to the parish account: FI65 1023 3000 2047 89. Please also register, even if you are coming with your own transportation.
7. If your child is in third grade or older and has not yet received First Communion, please register him/her for First Communion Preparatory Class. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM until First Communion. Registration at the parish office (tel. +358 50 434 4260 or maria@katolinen.fi). The classes will be organized both in Finnish and in English. The Finnish teaching dates are: 13.9.2025, 11.10.2025, 8.11.2025, 13.12.2025, 10.1.2026, 14.2.2026, 14.3.2026, 11.4.2026, 2.5.2026. The English teaching dates will be announced later.
8. We kindly ask all parents of eighth graders (or older youth) to register their child for the confirmation course. All older youth who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are also welcome to join the course. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM until the celebration of Confirmation in the autumn (there will be a break during the summer). 9. During the renovation of the church facade, please pay attention to safety in the vicinity of the construction site. The renovation will cost €210,000, which is a major financial undertaking for the parish.
