The ordination of Father Raimo Goyarrola as Bishop will take place in St. John’s Church (Korkeavuorenkatu 12) in Helsinki on Saturday 25.11.2023 at 11.00 a.m. during the Holy Mass. At 14.00 there will be a reception open to all (Event House Bank: Unioninkatu 20). At 17.00 there will be a Diocesan Takeover at St. Henry’s Cathedral. The new Bishop will celebrate a solemn Mass in St. Henry’s Cathedral on Sunday 26.11.2023 at 11.00. After the Mass, church coffee at Eira Adult High School (Laivurinkatu 3).

The memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated on Tuesday 21.11.

Cecilia’s memorial will be celebrated on Wednesday 22.11. St. Cecilia is a patron saint of church music and musicians. We thank our organists Markku Mäkinen, Ann-Catrin Wecktröm and all members of choirs for their important service in our church.

There will be a Catechism class in English for adults on Thursday 23.11 in the parish hall after the evening Mass.

There will be no Mass at 10 am on Saturday 11 due to the bishop’s ordination.

There will be a half day Bible Conference as the continuation of “Encounter with Jesus” program on Saturday 25th of November from 2pm – 5.30 pm. The Bible Conference includes preaching, songs, confession, Holy Mass and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with prayers for healing.

We will celebrate the solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe on Sunday 26.11.

There will be a catechesis in Finnish for pre-school children on Sunday 26.11 at 10 am in the parish hall.

International Youth Cooperation Finland is organizing a campaign to give Christmas presents to children in Mexico and Peru. More information on the notice board.

We invite children to participate in the Christmas play. The rehearsal will take place on the 10th of December after the Mass for children.

The Legion of Mary meets as usual on Monday after evening mass in the parish hall.

Lectio Divina in Finnish will take place on Wednesday 15.11 after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be Mass in Hyvinkää on Saturday 18.11 at 4 pm in the Old church (Vanha kirkko).

There will be a youth meeting on Saturday 18.11 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

Mass in Arabic will be celebrated on Sunday 19.11 at 1 pm and Mass in German at 2.30 pm.

Those who will visit a graveyard and pray for the faithful departed from the 1st until the 8th of November can receive a plenary indulgence for the departed under the general conditions. In order to obtain it, the faithful must, in addition to being in the state of grace: have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin; have sacramentally confessed their sins; receive the Holy Eucharist; pray for the intentions of the Pope.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 12.11 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

We thank parishioners who regularly support our parish with the membership fee.

October is a month dedicated to the Rosary prayer. We pray together the Rosary before the English Mass at 5.30 pm. We encourage to pray the Rosary at home especially with your families.

The Legion of Mary gathers on Mondays after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with prayers in English for priests and for the bishop-elect fr. Raimo Goyarrola. The adoration will take place on Saturday 28th of October at 3.30 pm. More details on the bulletin board.

In November we pray especially for all the faithful departed. Parishioners can write and send us names of their departed relatives and friends by email: maria(ät)katolinen.fi and we will read these names and pray for them in November during adorations.

There will be an organ music concert on Thursday 19.10 at 7 pm. Music of Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn and Gustafsson will be presented.
