The Holy Week begins on the Palm Sunday. During the Holy Week we celebrate the mysteries of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, the central events of our salvation. Let us attend these celebrations with special devotion:

  • The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 12.4 at 6 pm in St. Henry’s cathedral. There will be no evening Mass on Tuesday in our church.
  • On the Holy Thursday we commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord and the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass at 6 pm. After the mass, there will be an all-night adoration. There is a list on the information board, please put your name to indicate the time of your prayer especially during the night.
  • The Holy Thursday liturgy in Arabic will begin at 3.30.
  • Good Friday – the celebration of Jesus’ passion and death. The liturgy begins at 3 pm. Confession starts at 2 pm. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 until 60 are obliged to fast. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and two small meals.
  • The Stations of the Cross in Malayalam begin at 10.30 am. There will be a Good Friday’s liturgy in Arabic at 6 pm.
  • on the Holy Saturday traditional blessing of the Easter food at 11 am., solemn Easter Vigil at 9.30 , blessing of the food after the Vigil
  • on the Easter Sunday the bishop emeritus’ solemn Mass in Finnish at 10 am, Mass in Finnish at 11.30, Mass in English at 1 pm, Mass in German at 2.30 pm, Mass in Polish at 4 pm and Mass in English at 6 pm.

There will be a bazaar for the victims of the war in Ukraine on Sunday 10th of April from 10.00 to 19.00 in the parish hall. There will be pastries and various items on offer. The proceeds of the bazaar will be sent to the community of the Sisters of Jerusalem in Warsaw. The Sisters provide accommodation and meals for hundreds of Ukrainian refugees from the war.

Caritas Finland’s Lenten Collection supports the livelihoods and food security of nomadic women in the province of Turkana, Kenya. The region is one of the poorest in Kenya and the threat of famine is constantly present. There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the next Friday 1.4 which will begin after the Stations of the Cross and will last till midnight.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the next Saturday 2.4 at 3.30 pm as the continuation of the “Encounter with Jesus” program.

There will be Mass in Espoo, in Olari chapel on the next Sunday 3.4 at 4 pm.

We celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

A group of parishioners organises a bazaar and collection of donations for Ukrainians affected by the war. The bazaar will be held on the next Sunday 27th of March from 11am to 5pm in the parish hall.

You can donate pastry and other items in good condition for sale during the bazaar. You can donate items needed by refugees for example: blankets and thermal blankets, sleeping bags, mattress pads, mattresses, clothes (new or used in good condition), personal hygiene products, disinfectants, food with a long shelf life, matches, batteries, charged power banks, torches, candles, first aid kits.  Items for the bazaar or for transport can be delivered to the parish during the week. The money collected will be donated to the Community of Jerusalem Sisters in Warsaw.

The solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord will be celebrated on the next Friday 25.3. There will be Mass in Finnish at 8 am and 6 pm. Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on that day.

The Legion of Mary gathers on the next Friday after the Evening Mass and the Stations of the Cross in the parish hall.

We invite children from 5 to 8 years old to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on the next Sunday, 27.3 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

The Legion of Mary gathers on the next Friday 18.3 after the Evening Mass and the Stations of the Cross in the parish hall.

The solemnity of St. Joseph will be celebrated on the next Saturday 19.3. Mass in Finnish begins at 10 am.

There will be Mass in Hyvinkää, in the Old church on the next Saturday, 19.3 at 4 pm.

There will be a one day retreat in Vietnamese on the next Saturday 19.3 from 11 am till 4 pm.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

We can help Ukrainians affected by the war through the Caritas Finland. Caritas organisations are helping thousands of internally displaced persons who are now desperately seeking shelter both in Western Ukraine and abroad. The two Caritas organisations are providing up-to-date information on the situation, food, drinking water and personal hygiene items, as well as a safe place to sleep, eat and wash. Caritas staff and volunteers also provide safe transport for displaced families. We can make a donation on the Caritas website www.caritas.fi/lahjoita or directly to the Caritas bank account.
