There will be only evening Masses during next week. Mass on Tuesday 26.8. and Thursday 28.8. will be in English.

A Bible sharing group in English will gather on Tuesday 26.8. after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

The praesidium of the Legion of Mary gathers every Thursday in the parish hall after the evening Mass.

A half-day Charismatic Bible Conference will be held on Saturday 30.8. from 1 pm.

There will be Mass in Vietnamese on the next Sunday 31.8. at 1 pm.

If your child is in third grade or older and has not yet received First Communion, please register him/her for First Communion Preparatory Class. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM until First Communion. Registration at the parish office (tel. +358 50 434 4260 or maria(ät)katolinen.fi). The classes will be organized both in Finnish and in English. The Finnish teaching dates are: 13.9.2025, 11.10.2025, 8.11.2025, 13.12.2025, 10.1.2026, 14.2.2026, 14.3.2026, 11.4.2026, 2.5.2026. The English teaching dates will be announced later.

We kindly ask all parents of eighth graders (or older youth) to register their child for the confirmation course. All older youth who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are also welcome to join the course. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM until the celebration of Confirmation in the autumn (there will be a break during the summer). Registration at the parish office or via QR code (available e.g. on the noticeboard). The classes will be organized both in Finnish and in English. The Finnish teaching dates are: 13.9.2025, 11.10.2025, 8.11.2025, 13.12.2025, 10.1.2026, 14.2.2026, 14.3.2026, 3.2026, 11.4.2026, 2.5.2026, 5.9.2026. Open Doors Day will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program includes „Flavors of the World” coffee service, the „I Believe in Miracles” exhibition, a Catholic quiz about saints, a children’s corner, Caritas product sales, and a concert, „Laudate Dominum,” at 7:15 p.m. Volunteers are needed for baking, making coffee, cleaning, and organizing. Our parish will host a Life in the Spirit Seminar on Fridays, September 12 – October 24, after the evening Mass from 6:45–8:15 p.m. in the parish hall. The purpose of these seven sessions is to encounter the Holy Spirit in a new way and to be strengthened in faith. The course is free of charge. Registration is through the link available on the parish notice board and website.

The renovation of the church facade is progressing according to plan. However, it has become apparent that there are more areas in need of repair than originally estimated. This means that the costs will increase; the new estimate is €330,000, which is a significant financial burden for the parish. On the Easter Monday Mass in Finnish will be celebrated at 10.00 am and Mass in English at 6 pm.

The marriage course starts on Tuesday 22nd of April 2025 at 6.45 pm in the parish hall. The course will be held in Finnish and English.

The Legion of Mary group gathers on Thursdays after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

There will be a charismatic prayer meeting on Friday 26.4. after the evening Mass.

The Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated on the 27th of April. The plenary indulgence is granted (under the usual conditions of a sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and a prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff) to the faithful who, on Divine Mercy Sunday, in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin, recite the Our Father and the Creed, and also adding a devout prayer (e.g. Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!).

The Jubilee Year 2025 begins in our diocese on Sunday 29.12.2024. The Jubilee Year invites us to strengthen our spiritual life and to open ourselves to God’s grace. Gathering and opening liturgy at the German Church in Helsinki (Unioninkatu 1) at 12:30 PM, followed by a procession to St. Henry’s Cathedral, where the Pontifical Mass will be celebrated.

We will thank God for the past year 2024 on Tuesday 31.12. We thank our church workers, all volunteers and parishioners for their service, prayers and witness of faith.

The solemnity of Mary, Mother of God and the beginning of New Year will be celebrated on Wednesday 1.1. We will ask God’s blessing for the New Year. All Catholics have a privilege and the obligation to attend the Mass on Wednesday.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday 3.1 in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till 10 pm.

Mass in Hyvinkää will be celebrated on Saturday 4.1 at 4 pm in the Old church (Vanha kirkko).

Stickers and prayers for the yearly home blessing are available in the porch. At the beginning pray together the Our Father and Hail Mary prayer, one reads the prayer of blessing and fixes the sticker. Donation for a sticker is 2 Euros to support the missionary work of the church.

It is important during the time of Advent that everyone dedicates more time to prayer, penance, charity work and reading of the Bible. We encourage all parishioners to attend the sacrament of confession before Christmas.

During the Advent we support those in need. Caritas Finland’s Advent Collection supports small farmers in Nepal. We can donate via Caritas web page caritas.fi, directly to Caritas bank account, via Mobile pay or to the donation box in the church.

A course for English speakers who wish to improve their Finnish for masses and prayers will continue on Tuesday 3.12 at 6.45 pm in the parish hall.

The feast of the dedication of our church and the Finnish Independence Day will be celebrated on Friday 6.12. The Holy Mass in Finnish will begin at 10 am. The Cantores Minores Alumni choir will sing during the Mass. There will be also Mass at 6 pm and adoration afterwards till 10 pm.

The main celebration the 70th anniversary of our parish will take place on Sunday, December 8th. Bishop Raimo will preside over the solemn Mass at 10 am, followed by a reception at the English School. The program includes musical performances, singing together, interesting interviews, and a children’s corner. A Christmas party for young people aged 13-19 will take place on Sat 14.12. at 6 pm in the parish hall. Registration and more information here.

A Christmas dinner for lonely people will take place in our parish hall on Sat 21.12. at 7 pm.

Elders and homebound persons can ask a priest to visit them at home and to bring the Holy Communion. Please contact our parish office.
