The time of Lent begins on the next Wednesday 2nd of March, which is the Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of our conversion and preparation for Easter. The best way of our spiritual renewal is to receive sacraments of confession and Eucharist, prayer, fast and charity work.

Pope Francis invited everyone to make 2nd of March, Ash Wednesday, a Day of Fasting for Peace in Ukraine. “I encourage believers in a special way to dedicate themselves intensely to prayer and fasting on that day. May the Queen of Peace preserve the world from the madness of war,” he said.

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and of two light meals. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. There will be Holy Mass in Finnish on the Ash Wednesday at 8 am and at 6 pm. The Mass at 6 pm will be recorded by the television and broadcasted on the following Sunday at 10 am.

We will raise fund during the Lent to help the poor.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the next Saturday at 3.30 pm as the continuation of the “Encounter with Jesus” program.

There will be Mass in Espoo, in Olari chapel on the next Sunday 6.3 at 4 pm.

There is an Easter bazaar organised today in the parish hall by the nuns from Belarus. All income is meant to support sisters’ charity work.

We invite children from 5 to 8 years old to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on the next Sunday, 27.2 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

The commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick will be celebrated on the next Friday, 11th of February. Our sick parishioners can inform us that they are willing to receive the anointment of the sick during the Mass at 6 pm or at home. The anointment of the sick is a healing sacrament in which God gives us what we need physically and spiritually to overcome illness and suffering. The anointment of the sick is recommended before surgery, for those suffering from chronic illnesses, for elderly.

There will be First Communion and Confirmation classes in Finnish on the next Saturday 12.2 in the parish hall.

There will be Mass in Karjaa, in St. Catharine church on the next Saturday 12.2 at 2 pm.

We received the sad news that the former parish priest of St Mary’s parish, father Jan Aarts SCJ, has died last Wednesday 26.1.2022 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Bishop Emeritus Teemu Sippo SCJ will celebrate the Holy Mass for the soul of father Jan Aarts SCJ on the next Tuesday 1.2.2022 at 6 pm. in our church.

There will be an online synodal meeting in English on the next Tuesday, 1.2 after the evening Mass (link: https://meet.google.com/iuh-cfsi-amp).

We will celebrate the Presentation of the Lord feast on the next Wednesday, 2nd of February. It is also a day of consecrated life. There will be Mass in Finnish at 8 am and 6 pm. Please bring a candle on that feast as there will be a blessing of candles at the beginning of the Mass.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the next Friday 5.2 in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till midnight.

There will be Mass partially in Finnish and Vietnamese on the next Saturday 5.2 at 12.00 to ask God’s blessings for the New Year.

Holy Mass will be celebrated in Espoo, in Olari chapel on the next Sunday 6.2 at 4 pm.

It is now possible to pay the collection or candle fee using an application called MobilePay using the number 47373.

A new votive candle burning system has been introduced in our church. The price of one candle is 1 euro.
