The time of Lent begins on the next Wednesday, which is the Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of our conversion and preparation for Easter. The best way of our spiritual renewal is to receive sacraments of confession and Eucharist, prayer, fast and charity work.

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and of two light meals. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. There will be Holy Mass on the Ash Wednesday at 8 am in English and at 6 pm in Finnish. The Mass at 6 pm will be recorded by the television and broadcasted on the following Sunday at 10 am.

We will raise fund during the Lent to help the poor.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30.

The morning Mass on Saturday will start at 11 am.

We thank all those parishioners who helped yesterday to clean the walls, furniture and lamps in our church.

The parish council will gather on Tuesday, 26^th of February, after the evening Mass.

There will be a commemoration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the next Friday, 1^st of March. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will start after the evening Mass and will last till midnight.

We invite all volunteers to clean the walls in the church on the next Saturday, 23.2, at 10.30 am.

The Legion of Mary invites to the thanksgiving Mass and reunion party on the 22^nd of February at 6 pm in our church. Everybody welcome! Special invitation for all Legionaries of Mary from abroad.

The letter of the Financial Council of the Diocese of Helsinki has caused misunderstandings.

• The amount 150 € is an example of a membership fee for half a year for someone whose annual income is 20 000 €. Everyone needs to calculate the size of own membership fee.
• If the monthly income is under 1250 €, there is no need to pay a membership.
• However Catholics are obliged to pay the membership fee, the church will not take not paid fee to the debt collection agency.
• If someone belonged to the Catholic Church in the country of his origin, he is also a member of the Catholic Church in Finland so is obliged to pay the membership fee.
• If a Catholic leaves the Church in Finland, he will leave the universal Church in the whole world.

The World Day of the Sick will be celebrated on Monday, 11^th of February. Our sick parishioners can inform us that they are willing to receive the anointment of the sick during the Mass at 6 pm on Monday or at home. The anointment of the sick is a healing sacrament in which God bestows on us all what we need physically and spiritually to overcome illness and suffering. The anointment of the sick is recommended before surgery, for those suffering from chronic illnesses, for elderly. Don’t hesitate to ask for this sacrament.

There will be Mass in Malayalam on Saturday, 16.2 at 1 pm.
