The time of Lent begins on Wednesday 22nd of February, which is the Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of our conversion and preparation for Easter. The best way of our spiritual renewal is to receive sacraments of confession and Eucharist, prayer, fast and charity work.

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and of two light meals. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. There will be Holy Mass in English on the Ash Wednesday at 8 am and Mass in Finnish at 6 pm. The Mass at 6 pm will be recorded by the television and broadcasted on the following Sunday at 10 am. We will raise fund during the Lent to help the poor.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

There will be an bazaar organized by the nuns from Belarus on Sunday 19th of February in the parish hall. All income is meant to support sisters’ charity work.

The commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick will be celebrated on Saturday, 11th of February. Our sick parishioners should inform us that they are willing to receive the anointment of the sick after the Mass at 10 am or at home. The anointment of the sick is a healing sacrament in which God gives us what we need physically and spiritually to overcome illness and suffering. The anointment of the sick is recommended before surgery, for those suffering from chronic illnesses, for elderly.

There will be First Communion and Confirmation classes in Finnish on the Saturday 11.2 in the parish hall.

We invite children 5 to 8 years old to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on Sunday 12.2 at 10 am in the parish hall. There will be the Holy Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30 am.

We will celebrate the Presentation of the Lord feast on the Thursday, 2nd of February. It is also a day of consecrated life. There will be Mass in English at 8 am and Mass in Finnish at 6 pm. Please bring a candle on that feast as there will be a blessing of candles at the beginning of the Mass.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the Friday 3.2 in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till 10 pm.

There will be a half day Bible Conference in continuation of the program “Encounter with Jesus” on the Saturday 4.2 from 12.30 – 17.00. The Bible Conference includes preaching, songs, prayers for healing and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Details on the bulletin board.

There will be Holy Mass in Finnish in Espoo, in Olari chapel on the Sunday 5.2 at 4 pm.

The conversion of St. Paul, the apostle will be celebrated on Wednesday 25.1. There will be Mass in Finnish at 8 am and 6 pm.

The farewell Mass of Sister Mary Venard will be celebrated on Sunday 29.1 at 10 am. Sister Mary Venard celebrates her 100th birthday this year and soon she will return her home country.
