Bishop Raimo will celebrate Mass on Saturday 27.9. at 6 pm and will receive new members into the full communion of the Church. Bishop Raimo will celebrate Mass also on Sunday 28.9. at 10 am and confer the sacrament of confirmation to our youth. The Mass for children in Finnish will begin at 12.00.

There will be a youth meeting for teenagers on Saturday 27.9. at 7 pm in the parish hall.

There will be a Sunday school in Finnish for 5-8 years old children on Sunday 28.9. at 10 am in the parish hall.

The Confirmation class in English begins on Saturday 27.9. at 10.30 am in the parish hall.

The Alpha Course will begin on Thursday 9.10. 6 pm in St. Henry’s Parish Hall. It is free and open to everyone who wants to explore Christianity and life’s great questions. There will also be a small group in English. More information and registration are available here.

The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is on Monday, September 8.

A Life in the Spirit Seminar begins on Friday, September 12, after the evening Mass in the parish hall. The purpose of these seven sessions is to encounter the Holy Spirit in a new way and to be strengthened in faith. The course is free of charge. Registration is through the link available on the website.

The First Communion class in Finnish begins on Saturday 13.9. at 10 am in the church. The English teaching begins on the 20.9. at 10.30.

The Confirmation class in Finnish begins on Saturday 13.9. at 3 pm in the parish hall. The English teaching begins on the 27.9. at 10.30.

The youth evenings for teenagers of our parish are starting again. The first youth evening will be next Saturday, September 13, from 6 to 8 PM in the parish hall. The youth evenings are also for 13–19-year-olds who are interested in joining the Catholic Church. From September until the end of January, we will be using the Youth Alpha material. The upcoming youth evening dates are: Sept 13, Sept 27 (at 7 PM), Oct 4, Oct 18, Nov 1, Nov 15, Nov 22, Dec 13, Dec 20 (Christmas party), Jan 10, Jan 24, Jan 31.

A Sunday school in Finnish for 5 till 8 years old children will take place on Sunday 14.9. at 10 am in the parish hall.

On Saturday, September 13, a traditional pilgrimage will be held to the medieval church in Hattula in honor of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. There will be a walk of 8.5 kilometers on foot from the Hämeenlinna railway station. You can also take a direct bus from Helsinki to the church.

There will be also morning Masses at 7.30 am during the next week. Mass on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be in English.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday 5.9. in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The adoration will start after the evening Mass and will last till 10 pm.

Open Doors Day will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program includes ”Flavors of the World” coffee service, the ”I Believe in Miracles” exhibition, a Catholic quiz about saints, a children’s corner, Caritas product sales, and a concert, ”Laudate Dominum,” at 7:15 p.m. Volunteers are needed for baking, making coffee, cleaning, and organizing. If your child is in third grade or older and has not yet received First Communion, please register him/her for First Communion Preparatory Class. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM until First Communion. Registration at the parish office (tel. +358 50 434 4260 or maria(ät)katolinen.fi). The classes will be organized both in Finnish and in English. The Finnish teaching dates are: 13.9.2025, 11.10.2025, 8.11.2025, 13.12.2025, 10.1.2026, 14.2.2026, 14.3.2026, 11.4.2026, 2.5.2026. The English teaching begins on the 20.9. at 10.30.

We kindly ask all parents of eighth graders (or older youth) to register their child for the confirmation course. All older youth who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are also welcome to join the course. Classes will begin in September and will be held once a month on Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM until the celebration of Confirmation in the autumn (there will be a break during the summer). Registration at the parish office or via QR code (available e.g. on the noticeboard). The classes will be organized both in Finnish and in English. A Catholic parent-child club meets in the hall of St. Jacob’s church (Lauttasaari) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm.

The renovation of the church facade is progressing according to plan. However, it has become apparent that there are more areas in need of repair than originally estimated. This means that the costs will increase; the new estimate is €330,000, which is a significant financial burden for the parish.
